EXPERIENCE

12/01 – 04/03 The Research Foundation of SUNY, New York, NY

Research Assistant for visual perception study with Professor Hal Sedgwick. Wrote software to create and present visual displays and to collect and analyze data using 3ds max, MAXScript, R language, and Python with Pygame and OpenGLContext modules. Supported all parts of the research process, including experimental design, recruiting and running study participants, and data analysis and presentation.

 

10/99 – 05/01 Greentree Systems, Inc., Pacific Grove, CA

Q/A Analyst / Install Developer / VB Programmer for a vendor of applicant tracking and resume scanning software. In 2001, Greentree released a web-based employment management system, iGreentree.

·           Configured Windows NT and 9x systems to troubleshoot bugs and test software. Wrote release notes and managed bug reports with the Problem-Tracker database. Worked closely with developers to verify that important fixes were effected without causing new issues. Worked with customers and customer service to reproduce bugs and to support beta product. Maintained product installation scripts. Evaluated new technologies and software products to determine if they should be used, e.g., Windows Installer, automated build software. Recommended/selected new hardware for purchase as needed.

·           Provided basic system administration for office LAN (PDC, DNS, Proxy Server, & Exchange Server configuration, and network wiring).

Began working primarily on install development 04/00

·           Designed and coded software which fully automated the complex, error-prone, hour-long iGreentree Server manual installation procedure, reducing novice installation times to less than 15 minutes.

The server install:

·           Was implemented with InstallShield Professional 6, InstallDialogue custom dialogs, custom VB DLLs, customized C/C++ DLLs, and VBScript.

·           Verifies all necessary third-party products are installed on the target system and installs redistributable third-party components as necessary (e.g., MDAC, Crystal Reports, Pixtran).

·           Allows for both:

o         Stand-alone and distributed installation: Business Servers, Webs, Database, and Report Service components can each be installed on separate servers.

o         First-time installation and the updating of existing installations.

·           Automates installation and/or configuration of:

o         SQL Server database via SQL-DMO

o         65+ business servers (VB DLLs) in MTS

o         Webs in IIS

o         DCOM

o         Registry security

o         User accounts & user privileges

o         Report Service

·           Maintained, enhanced, and documented the Resume Analyzer component of the Greentree Employment System. Continued to maintain installs.

Implemented a Microsoft Access-based cataloging system, enabling students to electronically search selected information about 1,200 of the library's items. Previously only paper indices of library documents were available.
